Economic solution for waterless dust suppression system in Opencast Iron Mines

Challenge Details

An open cast mining process is dust extensive. The volume of dust is aggravated due to several loading vehicles (Figure 1) moving on haul roads (Figure 2) in the vicinity. Suppressing the dust in the open spaces of mining area requires huge quantity of water and sprinklers.

Addition of chemicals in the water sprinklers does not yield satisfactory results. Thus, there is a need for an economical solution which:

1. is either waterless
2. requires less water
