The jewellery industry faces a persistent challenge in handling and monitoring diamonds. Being transparent and non-metallic nature, diamonds cannot be reliably detected using conventional security screening tools such as body scanners or metal detectors. Currently, the process relies on manual frisking of personnel, which is not foolproof, as diamonds can be concealed within garments or on the human body. The average size of these diamonds ranges from 0.8 mm to 4 mm.
We seek a safe, quick, and effective method or instrument to ensure robust detection of concealed diamonds during personnel screening, while meeting the following requirements:
- Screening time should not exceed 20-25 seconds.
- Technology must be harmless and cause no discomfort to individuals (non-X-ray / non-ionizing radiation based solution).
- Detection must be highly reliable with no scope of error, minimizing false positives and negatives.
