The jewellery industry manufactures several types of articles like necklace, bangles, finger rings, etc. Each of these categories of articles can have numerous designs and can thus have a large variety of shapes, sizes and weights. Before final delivery to the customers from the stores, these jewellery articles undergo internal logistics between factory, warehouse and retail stores. Some stages of internal logistics also involve handling by external courier companies. During such internal logistics, delicate pieces of jewellery such as studded articles, soft gold bangles, etc. get distorted/damaged (ref. images) due to internal movement within the packaing box. Due to large volumes, the packaging used for this purpose has to be of low cost and reusable if possible. This is different from the customer facing jewellery cases which are expensive and cannot be used for internal logistics.
We are seeking innovative, cost effective solutions that can prevent such in-transit damages by restricting the motion of the jewellery articles within the packaging. The packaging solution must be made of sustainable materials and be reusable if possible with low cost. Due to large variety of jewellery designs, it is desired that any packaging solution must be suitable for a broad range of shapes and sizes of jewellery to minimize the total number of SKUs.
